How Proto handles the small amount of personal information this site collects. Last updated September 2026.
What this site collects
The only personal information this site collects is what you choose to send through the enquiry form: your name, your email address, your company (optional), and what you are trying to decide. We also record the page the enquiry was sent from and the date and time it was received.
If you email hello@proto.ie directly, we hold whatever you include in that email.
This site does not collect information about you automatically beyond what is described under Cookies and tracking below.
How it is used
Enquiry information is used for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and for related business communication — for example, continuing a conversation you started with us.
It is not added to marketing lists, not sold, and not shared with anyone outside the service providers listed below.
Where it is stored and who processes it
Proto is a consultancy operating from Ireland. This site runs on a small number of service providers who process enquiry data on our behalf:
- Emergent — hosts the website and its application.
- MongoDB Atlas — the site's database, where enquiries are stored.
- Resend — delivers the notification email that tells us a new enquiry has arrived, via Emergent's managed email service.
- Google (Gmail) — Proto's mailbox, where enquiry notifications are delivered and held.
- Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry) — serves the site's fonts; like any content delivery service, it processes basic technical request data (such as your IP address and browser type) when the fonts load.
- Cloudflare — provides security and delivery infrastructure for the site (see Cookies and tracking).
How long it is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and to maintain a reasonable record of our business communication. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — email hello@proto.ie and we will do it.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses no analytics, no advertising or marketing pixels, and no session recording.
The only cookies set are infrastructure cookies that keep the site running and secure. Emergent, the hosting platform, sets __emg_vid (a visitor identifier lasting one year) and __emg_sid (a session identifier lasting about 30 minutes). Cloudflare may also set __cf_bm, a security cookie lasting about 30 minutes, to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated abuse.
None of these cookies are used for analytics, advertising or tracking. Because they are strictly necessary for the site to function, no cookie-consent banner is required.
Your rights
You have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@proto.ie.
You also have the right to make a complaint to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), the Irish supervisory authority.
